Curriculum
Our Lady of Peace School follows the Diocese of Columbus courses of study in all content areas for grades K-8. These are based on the most recent and highest educational content standards set by the Ohio Department of Education and related educational experts in a given area. This method of combining the best resources available in planning the curricula for the students results in a challenging but appropriate outcome – OLP graduates prepared for a rigorous post-elementary education.
The following are always available for parent review from the principal:
- Courses of Study for Religion, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health, Music, Physical Education, and Art *
- Standards Sheets in the areas of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Health.
- Curriculum Guides or Plans for Library, Technology, School Counseling, Gifted and Talented. Note: These are resources used to teach all students as appropriate by grade level and students abilities.
*Note: There is a Course of Study for Foreign Language but at this time, OLP does not teach a world language to all the children. There is a small group of eighth graders who are studying Mandarin Chinese but the federal grant that supported that program ended in May 2009, and the current plan is to have that (wonderful) program end when those students graduate.
