GENERAL

~ INFOhio, is the state’s “virtual” library and information network for all PreK-12 Ohio schools. And now, it’s available to parents and students. A username and password is necessary to use this site. Due to license agreements the username/password may NOT be published where it would be available to the general public. ~ KidsClick! Web Search for Kids by Librarians. This site was created by a group of librarians to ensure that students have easy access to information-rich, age-appropriate, safe sites. http://www.kidsclick.org/

MATH

~ 6th-8th grade math classes can access their textbooks at http://www.glencoe.com/ to practice questions, take practice quizzes, tests, or puzzles. It is great for practice at home on topics your children are struggling in!!

~ Another great site for math help is www.math.com to practice any and all math skills from 6th -8th grade in all the standards.

~ The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives (NLVM) is a library of uniquely interactive, web-based manipulatives that help math students (K-12) visualize relationships and applications. http://nlvm.usu.edu/en/nav/index.html

~ www.aplusmath.com is a great site with activities for practicing math facts.

READING

~ Starfall is a learn-to-read website primarily designed for first graders. www.starfall.com is also useful for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and second grade.

~ NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) has a wonderful website with pages +For Kids and +For Students. NASA has a new site called Kid's Club with educational games and activities which support science and math.

~ Animal Tracks: Wild Place to Learn is part of the Columbus Zoo's website. It includes resources for teachers and parents and a special section for children. Animal Tracks for Kids includes interactive games and animal facts.

~ Edheads is a website that promotes critical thinking skills. An OLP alum, Teresa Brusadin, helped to create this website which includes simple and compound machine activities.
