1) OLP Athletic Association (OLPAA)
The OLP Athletic Association is a well-organized group of dedicated parents who provide the opportunity for students in grades 4-8 to participate in diocesan sports competitions. They are also offer developmental opportunities for primary students in soccer and basketball.
OLPAA’s Mission Statement: The OLPAA is committed to providing a quality, comprehensive and properly focused athletic program for all eligible parishioners. The Diocesan objectives are to unite the youth of our parishes and to bring Christian truths, principles and ideals into their everyday lives. Consistent with these objectives, the OLP program strives to foster the physical and spiritual development of our children and to build character by promoting high standards based on respect and good sportsmanship. Our goal is to teach the fundamental skills of each sport and provide an atmosphere in which each child can excel, learn the benefits of teamwork and cooperation, and have fun!

2) Scouts
Boy Scouts:
The Diocese of Columbus considers scouting part of the Youth Ministry programs offered by parishes. “Scouting programs are an ideal expression of God’s call to all people to follow his own example of holiness…Part of that call to be holy is a call to be of service. To serve others and their needs is to serve Christ himself, and this example of service has always been a very large part of the Scouting program.”—Bishop Frederick Campbell at annual Scout Day with the Bishop program 2008. Catholic Times February 1, 2008, by Tim Puet.
Brownies and Girl Scouts:
Our Lady of Peace Parish currently does not sponsor Brownie or Girl Scout Troops. However, there are Brownie and Girl Scout meetings held at the school. Call the school at 614-267-4535 for more information, or go to www.girlscouts.org/ or call 614-487-8101 or 800-621-7042.

3) SPICE = Special People in Catholic Education
SPICE is a program to support the education of children with special needs that will help ensure creating an environment that is supportive and accepting of learning differences within a parish and/or parish school. The SPICE Program was designed and created by St. Catharine Parish and is currently being implemented at four other parishes within the Columbus Diocese. The Our Lady of Peace SPICE Program was adopted 4/16/08 by OLP Parish Council.
SPICE’s MISSION:
Our Lady of Peace SPICE program recognizes that each of our parish children are unique individuals with different learning needs. The SPICE program supports serving the educational needs of these children that have different learning styles that provide diversity in the classroom environment.
Working together with the support of the SPICE program, the parish community, pastor, school administration, teachers, and parents can help to provide understanding, information, creativity and willingness to address special education needs.

4) Festival
Every penny from the Festival goes to the school’s budget – we are grateful for the support of so many parishioners. The third weekend of July each year, the parish gathers together on the church’s grounds with friends from within and outside the parish in a celebration of mid-summer. What makes this festival special are not the ‘things’ we present, like rides, great food, and games. It is the bonds of fellowship we build within our community as we share moments seeing our children play together, sharing a beverage while recounting our summers, or volunteering elbow to elbow to provide a good quality lemon shake-up. In building these bonds our community is strengthened and continues to be blessed.
