Dionysius Virgin and Child

Teacher: Mrs. Kathleen Reinhard kreinhar@cdeducation.org

Welcome to the art curriculum for grades K-8!  My name is Kathleen Reinhard, and I am the art teacher at Our Lady of Peace. This is my tenth year teaching art, and my eleventh year teaching. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English,  then received my certification from Ohio Dominican for English 7-12 and Visual Arts K-12. In December of 2010, I completed my Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from Kent State University, and am now a certified K-12 Library Media Specialist.

Throughout the school year, I expose the students to a wide range of 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional lessons. I encourage the students to express themselves creatively through their artwork, as well as communicate about their artwork in a positive manner. Many of the art lessons are integrated with other subjects such as Science, History, Math, Religion, and Music. Students cultivate their knowledge of the elements and principals of art, while developing their understanding of art techniques and processes. We explore famous artists and art movements, and discuss how they relate to our world today.

What I enjoy most is seeing the students take pleasure in expressing themselves creatively. I feel honored that I am able to fill this role in a child's life, and look forward to exploring new ways to cultivate a love of art.
