Grade 2
Teacher: Miss Barbara Durbin bdurbin@cdeducation.org
Welcome to the Second Grade at Our Lady of Peace School! My name is Miss Barbara Durbin. This is my 35th year teaching. I have been fortunate to spend my entire career at O.L.P.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Ohio Dominican College. I became a National Board Certified Teacher in November, 2003. In December 2009, I completed my Masters in Education at Ohio Dominican University.
When you visit our school, you will learn that one of the year-long themes of our classroom is Birds. (This is the focus of the Second Grade life science curriculum.) Please understand that the children will learn more about birds than I ever hope to know. (Their minds absorb so much!)
Every year, we participate in a Service Learning Project. Last year, the Second Graders collected money for school supplies for a new school being bulit in Vietnam. The program was called "Kids Building Hope": (See the link below this paragraph for more details.) The class studied the Vietnamese culture and learned about the children who received their donations.
As this year progresses, we will do a service learning project that will continue our goal to demonstrate a passion for learning and helping others!
