PARENTS & COMMUNITY

A STRONG SENSE OF COMMUNITY AT OUR LADY OF PEACE SCHOOL

Community is a central tenant of Our Lady of Peace. We hope that once you visit our school and choose to join our community that you will experience the welcoming and inviting atmosphere that makes our parish and school community so special.

One way we foster this community feel is through the use of Family Groups during the school year. Family groups are comprised of approximately 15 students per group ranging across all grade levels. Members of the parish and school staff serve as the “carent”, short for a caring parent, of each family group. The groups meet monthly with a particular focus on community, service, or faith. This opportunity allows students of all ages to help build a stronger community.

FIND YOUR FIT AS A PARENT AT OLP

Parents, teachers, staff and students working together have made OLP a strong community. In that spirit, each student’s family is expected to contribute 20 hours of volunteer service each year in the area(s) of their choosing.

There are many opportunities, including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Lunchtime and/or recess prefect duty
  • Coaching a sports team
  • Fundraising (e.g. Pizza Sales, Magazine Sales, Scrip Sales, etc.)
  • Participation in various committees (Hospitality, Outreach, Home & School etc. )
  • Field trip transportation
  • Room parents (Holiday Celebrations, Snacks, etc.)
  • Parish Festival

All paid staff must have on file both BCI and FBI background checks and must attend “Protecting God’s Children.”

All volunteers must have on file a BCI background check and must attend "Protecting God's Children" no matter how much or how little contact they have with children or youth, no matter if volunteering for the school or parish, and no matter what time of the day or night they volunteer.
